Renee Prymus

  • Assistant Director, First-Year Engineering Composition Program

Renee Prymus is the Assistant Director of the First-Year Engineering Composition Program. She teaches courses in composition and tutors in Pitt’s Writing Center. Renee has been with the University of Pittsburgh since 2007 and has also worked with the Department of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University as a writing consultant for graduate students. She specializes in first-year composition.

Renee often teaches themed composition courses as First-Year Seminars, particularly Writing the Spiritual and Fun & Games. She is also a long-time instructor of Workshop in Composition: ESL. She enjoys breaking open the traditional five-paragraph essay and inviting students into personal and academic inquiry.

Renee holds an MFA in creative nonfiction and a Master of Ministries in theology. Her work has appeared in Creative Nonfiction, and she is the Executive Editor of Christians Practicing Yoga.
